Each figure is the total penalty for that outcome divided by every summons in it, rounded to the dollar: 156,215 summonses, decided or pending, issued September 30, 2023 through September 24, 2026. The penalty is the amount set on the day of the decision, not a running total and not what the city’s books show today; for a pending summons it is the amount at stake. Summonses the city left with no hearing status are not counted.

Does curing a violation remove the penalty?
In the city's data, only a tiny share of cured summonses carry a penalty, and their total is a rounding error next to every other outcome. The share is at the top of this page and the cost per summons is on the ladder. That is a pattern, not a promise about any particular summons.
Is a cured matter still a violation?
Yes. The status still says in violation. What changes is the penalty, not the finding, and that is what separates a cure from a dismissal.
