Correct the condition and certify it through HPD's eCertification. If the certify-by date has already passed, the status commonly moves to Not Complied With rather than closing on its own.

How is Violation Open different from NOV Sent Out?
Both mean the violation is open. NOV Sent Out adds one fact: HPD mailed the notice to the registered address. HPD's data does not say why one status was used rather than the other on a given violation, and we do not guess.
Does an open violation expire?
No. It stays open until a correction is certified and accepted, or HPD closes or dismisses it another way. Age alone does not clear it.
